MK2 GOLF GTD
« on: August 19, 2015, 05:02:52 am »
Hi.
I'm Andy  (everyone calls me Pootz though) From Birmingham, UK
I've just picked up my first diesel VW.
it's a 1985 1.6 MK2 GOLF GTD.

I bought it without seeing it because it was going to be scrapped due to noisy diff and couldn't bear the thought of another mk2 being needlessly wrecked, but when I got home I found out it was knackered front wheel bearings making the noise. ....problem solved,  or so I thought.

Changed bearings and decided to take it to a local vw meet which was fine until I was on the return journey

5 miles from home and it decided to blow the turbo and spew it's oil all over the motorway.

3 weeks later and it's back on the road and running sweet  (apart from the usual diesel rattle)

I'll post photos when I work out how to do it from my phone

Thanks for reading
