just like the title says the other day i had trouble getting my truck into reverse, i almost have to slam it to engage, all other gears are working just fine, which leads me to believe its a sychro or something. has anyone experienced the same problem? and is it to difficult dropping the trans on these things?

There's no syncro on reverse. Check out your shifter bushings and shifter alignment, most likely that's where your problem lies.

Before you get all balled up and excited in your bloomers try to adjust the linkage underneath the tunnel and up to the engine compartment. I have had a lot of grief with it not catching in first of all things. Would always seek to go to Reverse instead. Had to come up at it directly from second or it would slide over. Very exciting to come to an intersection and route from 4th to 1st only to have the reverse lights come on and the driver behind wondering if I know I am about to ram the grill of their car when the light goes green.
Adjusting took me a bit and eventually had to just elevate the front end on jack stands and play with it. Bushings are a bit worn but not that bad as i would think before replacing them.

Vanbcguy and I were but seconds apart with the answer to your question. Good minds think alike and then the trouble starts.

Not really... Stock ones are readily available, or if you don't want to have to do it again, check out MissingLinkz:

I expect the clutch is dragging slightly if you have to slam it into gear. No syncro in reverse. BTW.

Figure out what the problem is very quickly as you have a very limited amount of slams, grinds, and pops before your reverse becomes chips in the bottom of the case.
