n/a 1.9 diesel engine block.

Hi,

Does anybody know if the 1.9 n/a engine block is the same as the AAZ turbo diesel engine?
I heard this from some guy that bought a 1.9 n/a engine from a dealer in California, that is what
the used VW diesel used engine dealer told him.

they are similar, have the same bore and stroke and both have oil squirters, the rods and pistons are slightly different though, the NA engines had longer rods with a higher mounted wrist pins.  over all though i'd see them as completely interchangeable, and the difference is with the internals not the block casting.

I'd be surprised if the NAs had the oil bung cast or at least drilled and tapped in the back of the block. Fairly minor in the big scheme of things.
