Hi all, I've got a D24TIC Volvo which needs new glowplugs.
I run it on Veg oil (single tank) so need some good glowplugs. On the "Veggie forum" most use Bosch Duraterm's which seem to be most reliable. But, it looks like there are 2 different types:
GLP002 - 0250201032 - £6.82 -

GLP085 - 0250201046 - £8.42 -

Supposedly the GLP085's are "Duraterm Chromium" plugs. Has anyone ever used these? Are they worth the extra £12 for a set?
Also, I'm sure I read a while back about fitting longer plugs in the 1.6TD's when running Veg oil - is that true? Would that apply to my Volvo?
The links for those glow plugs don't work for me. Either way, you may want to check out "pimping the glow plugs" with a search on this site. Because you are in the UK, are you using a single tank or double tank
set up ? If you are using 2 tank,it shouldn't matter about the glow plugs-as long as they are working properly. If using a one tank, you may want to do a bit more research about having a longer, hotter duration plug and relay.Maybe Elsbett have something for a retrofit? Either way, good luck changing #6 plug that's behind the pump
Will look into the Pimping, thanks!
I run a single tank - normally with 10% unleaded mixed in, or 20% diesel. It's a bit of a cranky start but never lets me down (touch wood).
Glowplugs now are on a manual switch. I turn the switch on for 15-20 seconds then start the car with them on, and turn them off after about 15-20 seconds of idling.
Couple of mine died though
after I left the manual switch on for an hour on my driveway...
Couldn't find any info about longer plugs, just think I remember reading something a while back.
I did change them a couple of years ago and used BERU plugs, so I know the pain no.5&6 cause!!
Caveman is right, ELSBETT or better ANC does offer glow plugs and nozzles for this model. I think they have different dimensions and more power.
