Does anyone on here know if a ahu block is the same as an 1.9 aaz block?. I need a new block as mine is cracked and I was told a ahu block is the same and I found one local. Any help would be appreciated
yeah its the same with an added boss for a crank position sensor, can't think of any other differences, i don't think there are any.
You would have to reuse the pistons from the aaz but that's it. The AHU has the d shaped crank nose which is a huge plus.
The boss for the crank position sensor is present on both blocks, but on the AAZ it is not machined to accept the sensor. The rods are dimensionally the same as far as length and bushing size/placement, but the TDI rods are stronger and are lacking the counterweight. Pistons are obviously completely different.
IMO turning an AHU into an AAZ is a step in the wrong direction. A better option is to sell off the AAZ bits, source a Land Rover injection pump and run the AHU as an mTDI for better low-end torque, 15% better fuel economy and similar overall power.
Haha around here I couldn't sell anything and get half of what I paid and it all has 150kms on it. But I actually changed my mind and I am just going to get a aaz bottom end and rebuild it and slap my new head and go fast gear on it
I had a bad motor and block from a purchase, at least the trans was okay
New ahu block
New ahu crank
New ahu head
Colt cam
Rosten rods
PD150 pistons
new oil nozzles
still less money than going thru a old motor and I know whats inside , complete motor being balanced

Tell me more about the Fluidamper?
Will the Fluidampr work on a 1.6? Looks like everyone loves them.
