A/c condenser delete
« on: January 27, 2015, 03:52:53 pm »
I'm deleting the a/c in my 91 Jetta TD and I'm wondering if the fan shroud, etc.. Will mount back up if ai remove the condenser.   The car also heats up quick on hills and i'm thinking I will get more air flow thru the rad if I get rid of the condenser.   Will everything mount  back up with the condenser removed?

I know when I removed the condenser from my car everything mounted back up no problem.... I believe your shroud mounts to the radiator so you should be fine..I actually took my stock fan and shroud off and added duel fans because stock one was on it's way out

Yep, should be no problemo. Shroud mounts to the rad, single or dual fans.

If anything, the car may not heat up as fast as you want, with the condenser out. In single-digit temps, my 86TD temp gauge won't reach midpoint (normally does).

If you have a '91 I think the brackets are the same. The mk1 has a different bracket but on the later TD the alternator is different and goes in place of the a/c compressor in about the same spot and there is an adjustment bracket for the alternator.
