TDI intake on a 1.6td ?
« on: January 26, 2015, 08:51:56 pm »
The 1.6td intake seems to be a terrible design.   I'm looking at the Kerma TDI intakes and I'm wondering if that will mount on the 1.6 head?   If not,  does anyone have better options than the stock setup.

Make your own using the ports from your intake with longer runners.

A g60, or even a stock 8v intake may work on a 1.6.  I had a g60 on my alh for years, I had to change the shape of the runners to D's for it to work on the tdi.  That would be a problem for idi guys trying to use a tdi intake on a 1.6...tdi intake runners are D shaped.

I have a G60 intake on one of my 1.6 motors.  When it was still NA, it seemed to run a lot stronger with that manifold, but I don't have any dyno numbers to prove it.  It runs very well with the turbo, but I have to remove the compressor from the Holset (in situ) to access the intake manifold bolts, which really sucks.  There's not much room.  I'm holding onto a stock 1.6TD intake manifold in case I decide to turbo the rabbit I just picked up for my daughter -- going for ease of maintenance vice outright power on that one.

Looks like the Kerma intakes will bolt on the 1.6td head.  Anyone think  the upgrade is worth it?   Any trouble with daily driving performance?   Thanks guys

Totally not worth the money on a stock or lightly modified engine IMO.
