Putting a 1984 1.6td into a 1997 Geo Tracker 4-dr, need help on the correct pulley/bracket combo i need. the motor now sits front to back, and the alternator is on the back side of the block (now the passenger side) I have a factory power steering mount that bolts to tge front of the block and goes under the crank pulley toward the driver side, and a 2 groove crank pulley. need a p/s pulley, water pump pulley, bracket that lays on top of the water pump (#9) and connects to the end of the power steering bracket, and the bracket that bolts to the pan rail and attaches to the back side of the p/s pump.(#13)
thanks,
scot
For your edification, I've attached a diagram showing all 5 factory belt routing configurations for the 1.6(T)D on mk1 engines.
As you can see, there is a good reason why the "diesel with power steering" configuration has the alternator and PS pump on the same side of the engine. Because each belt is only using the water pump pulley(s) as an idler.
Your diagram doesn't really look like a mk1 diagram to me. The mk1 PS pump bolts to the bottom of the alternator bracket, which looks more like the bracket above the one marked "9".
Mk2 brackets are compatible with mk1 blocks, but that's outside my field of expertise.
