I know it's not exactly a race car but I've grown to expect a certain level of stiffness from a car and i don't intend to baby my coupe.
It kinda looks to me like most front upper strut bars won't work with the PD130 intake manifold. Am i wrong?
I've relocated the fuel filter, so that's not a concern. Just clearance vs. the intake.
eurosportacc sells a scirocco II 16v bar but they're not clear on whether it fits a mk1 rabbit/jetta, but I'm under the impression that the strut towers are the same?
I think it will probably still fit OK but I'm not 100% sure. I have an intercooler pipe in the way myself, but I think the manifold is further forward than the strut bar would be.
Hm. here's a shot of a eurosportacc 8v bar on a gasser with CIS:

dunno what make this is as the photo originates in the UK but it's either raceland or what they copied:

autotech:

neuspeed:

*shrug* maybe either will fit. come to think of it i am a little concerned about clearing my air intake ductwork.
I guess I'm thinking about my Mk3...

Doesn't seem like the PD intake sticks anywhere near as high as those CIS manifolds do.

If you can get one like that do it. Especially if you have manual valve train. The ability to unbolt it without undoing the strut part would be nice. I have to take 3 or more of the bolts out of mine to run the valves depending on if I swing it out of the way or take it all the way off.
Good point. Even tho i have a hydro head.

Looks like ECS sells a JOM strut bar that is a lot like the autotech, except adjustable (big double ended bolt in the middle). Question is, how much like it. There are a lot of flimsy bars out there.

This is a very heavy Neuspeed bar. It will clear just about anything.
The one listed as Autotech, definitely isn't Autotech and I've never seen the last Neuspeed bar. I have a feeling it's either a DIYer bar or some other brand.

I have the neuspeed for the MK2...hate it as described above for mech head.
