"Tog" -- 1986 4D Golf IDI NA
« on: November 19, 2014, 03:02:33 pm »
T.O.G. = "The Old Golf":

It's a 1986 non-turbo bought new by my dad, then given to my brother for his first car. That's how it wound up with GTI suspenders and a rear disc axle, and youthful road tripping is how it wound up getting to 349K miles. Currently has a bad fuel leak, though (:() so its fate currently rests on how drastic a repair is needed. (Figured I should add this post to show I'm human, given that my other [first] post is a WTB.)

Fix the fuel leak and drive it until it crumbles into a pile of rust

i'd probably just find another used good one, but if you're going to reseal it, do all of them at once, i had one i replaced the cold start seal on, then 1-2 other ones went bad 6 months later.  if it works fine, theres nothing wrong with just resealing it.

There really is no rebuilding of the pump, just taking it apart and adding new seals. I was too lazy so I purchased another pump that a member of this board resealed. Its not a difficult task, just time consuming.

I'm a little ignorant on compatibility -- would this one work?
