Can the VW diesel engine burn common kerosene or Jet A turbine fuel (also a form of kerosene for jet engines)

If you look around a bit you should find that these fuels are lighter than #2 diesel and in some instances it is recommended to blend some into your fuel if you have gelling problems in the cold. They are not as good with lubrication so some extra oil, 2 stroke or other diesel additive would be good to throw in there as well. They are not intended to run as a 100% replacement to #2 Diesel. And since there isn't a road tax on them there might be some frownage by anyone dipping the tank.
Kerosene is a good cleaner and some recommend a bit to the tank if you are having issues with the injectors. But then so is adding Auto Trans fluid or some other diesel based injector cleaner.
As with all alternative fuels it is always better to blend than run straight. Even those running waste motor oil find it can run on it at 100% but runs better with something like a 70/ 30 mix of something more fuelish not foolish in nature.
I run jet a in my little 1.6 td fairly regularly, usually add 2 stroke oil though. Running 100% will make the exhaust smell slightly different, but not as noticeable as running b100. No noticeable difference in power or e's's.
We used to use the takeoff jeta in a couple of vw-d's, few gallons here and there, no problems.
No idea what the cetane is on that stuff.

I've used Jet A once when I got stuck in a small town in Alaska after all the gas stations closed for the weekend. I wouldn't recommend it for long term use, it doesn't have the lubricity of regular diesel.
When I ran it a few times I always added some atf for lubricity... Also I noticed my car went from rolling coal to being as clean burning as a Prius. Visible exhaust smoke in my experience is nil. That's actually why they made jet-a to my knowledge. Reducing jet trails in the sky to make air travel seem more appealing. Or some such thing I heard working at an aviation shop.
