« on: August 11, 2014, 09:00:23 pm »
I am seeking a functioning 1.9TD AAZ with a Garrett T2 turbo ideally from a Passat.

I am located in Los Angeles, CA.

GeeBee,

This is an old post when I was thinking of going the TD route on my 82 Vanagon, but I'm leaning more towards a 1Y (1.9na) engine or a ADG 1.9 engine.

I'm more familiar with my 1.6 so the learning curve is easier. From what I read, if you can't support your conversion, then might as well not convert. With that advice, I'm going a lateral move with the 1.9na just a bit more hp.

Now, I'm thinking about a possible AAZ and stripping the turbo and when I'm more comfortable put it back on.

Thomas at Quality german Auto, is high on my list; however, I'm also open to other options.

I'm at least a year or two away. I need to get other supporting work done (radiator upgrade, wheel upgrade, new springs, lift kit, exhaust/intake, and a giles pump.) before I attack the 1.9na conversion.

Decisions decisions :)
