Not really sure how to put a price on this, as I can't even find any for sale to get an idea what they're worth these days...
pulled from my buddy's caddy, only because I'm tdi swapping it for him. I drove it 300 miles from his place back to my shop, and I can honestly say it is the fastest-starting and smoothest 1.6 I've ever personally driven. 220k on the odo. New timing belt and water pump less than 10k miles ago by a reputable independent vw mechanic.
Located in Farmville VA 23901
Make an offer. I'm willing to give someone a fair deal, but if I can't get a reasonable offer, I'll stash it in the corner for a rainy day project.

The reason you can't find representative examples is because they pretty much don't exist anymore.
It's worth more than you think.
Look how much the transplanted Kraut from "Quality VW....." in Montclair, CA asks for his (every one of them magically has ) 79,000 miles. And just this week a buyer here found that he had been had.
Hold out for good money.

1. Your sig line deserves five stars.
2. What would you consider good money?

Looks like shipping is $400-ish... I can't see how it would make sense.

strapped to a pallet and sent by truck freight might be less.
Anyway, the value of these is very hard to gauge. I have a friend here who had a pair of mostly-complete 1.6NA engines in a shed that he had to get rid of.
He offered them for sale on multiple sites.
At one point he offered to give me both of them for $100.
Ultimately he sold them and most of two rabbit shells to some kid who said he was going to make a rabbit rat-rod.

I think I found a better shipping option. $1000 shipped? Anyone?
