IP timing advance adjustment maxed out- how to reset?

I tried to advance my IP timing further using a diesel pulse adapter/ strobe light but it is maxed out and won't go any further. The IP idle adjust screw boss is 2.5 inches from the block, this gives an indication of how far the IP is (advanced) towards the block.
I need to re-index the belt to the IP. Can some one give me a step by step best way to do it so I don't mess it up? I don't do this every day and want to save myself from unnecessary headaches. Thanks in advance!

You just need to jump the belt by one tooth, no biggie. I'm assuming you know the rest of the timing procedure.
Engine to TDC, cam locked. Put the pump in the fully retarded position before putting the belt on. Helpful to have your dial gauge in the pump at this point! Rotate the pump sprocket a tooth or two until the dial gauge is just starting to rise and then put the belt on - you should have the full range of adjustment available to you at that point.

I have never had to skip a tooth on an engine because I ran out of adjustment room?
Does that just mean somebody didn't use the lock tool on the last timing belt job?

I have to skip a tooth from the stock position after installing 10mm pump head and 3mm camplate...
Pulley should move 1 tooth clockwise with belt not moved...

Yes I have a Bentley and have followed the procedure to a T at least 5 times prior over the last 4 years using the right tools, pin in IP sprocket, cam lock, dial gauge at TDC. I knock the cam sprocket off with a punch to set cam timing perfectly. When I'm all done, the IP is always towards the block too much. So I am seeking help because, obviously for me, the Bentley procedure does not work. I am not saying the Bentley is wrong. Maybe I have the wrong IP sprocket? Right now what is stopping the IP from being further advanced is the bottom bracket with the tapered nut is at the end of adjustment. Maybe I have the wrong IP bottom bracket? There is further adjustment on the 3 bolts, not the bottom bracket. Should I take the bottom bracket out and make the slot longer?
This pic shows my IP is about 1/2" from touching injector #1. Is that abnormal? Can you gentlemen take a look at yours and tell me where your's at?

Thanks for the reply that I am looking for. How do I put the pump in the fully retarded position? I thought having the pin in the sprocket sets the IP in the correct position? If I jump the belt one tooth, the pin will no longer line up with the sprocket hole.

Holes for the locking pin does not line up in my car when i set the timing, exactly the same problem as you. Just not use that locking pin, doesn't matter anyway... the cam lock and procedure as normal.
Fully retarded is pump top as far from the injectors as possible.. the exact opposite of what you have now...

My IP is tilted about the same amount as shown in the pic.

The locking pin for the pump is not really that useful anyhow - I have one but I stopped using it a looooong time ago. It is good for knowing that the pump is at #1 but that's about it.

If your timing was OK before and seems to be "walking" you might want to check the crank sprocket?
I could be wayyy wrong though.
