What do you think of this tire from Walmart? Anyone with experience with this particular tire. I can buy online, have them shipped to my local Walmart and installed.

I don't see a link?

What size tires/wheels?

What are you looking for in your tires? Treadwear, handling, mileage?

I never bought tires from there, but bought a car with them on it. They were horrible. I asked around and I guess for them to be as cheap as they are the tire mfg's make a lower quality tire for them. Most of their tires cannot be bought anywhere else. Aside from the fact I don't buy anything from there and it has been 3 years since I have been in a Walmart to purchase something, I wouldn't buy their tires. I really like good tires as I put on many miles and want the best I can get. Really like my yokohama avid asend I have for the TDI for a good all around tire.

I also don't shop at WM. I support my local tire shop, they carry good tires and cheapies.

14" tires are not very popular these days and choices are limited. What are the 4 x 100 rim choices for 15"? There was a thread on the subject but I could not find it. Will going to 15" lower mpg? A bigger rim will generally be heavier with higher unsprung weight.

Why shouldn't I go to Walmart for tires? They have tire shops all over the country and they look clean, well organized with nice equipment.

I answered that...they have lower quality tires.
That tire rack tire would not be a choice of mine. I have never heard of the brand and the tire us only a 440 tread

What tire would be your choice from tirerack? What about the 440 tread? Is that too low? Here's the utqg info at tirerack on threa wear grades. Should I trust the numbers tire manufacturers put on the tires. Do you trust them? The DOT only fines them IF they find discrepancies.

It really depends on what you want. 440 is kind of soft even though it says 55,000 you want get 25,000. They may grip well. The thing about a ton of non name brands is the quality. They may ride hard or the cords may break or some I got years
ago were not even round or able to be balanced.
I have a cooper 82 h rated on the mkii right now and they are my favorite tire I have had since Toyo discontinued the spectrum

How about this Sumitomo from tirerack? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+A%2FS+P01+%28H-+or+V-Speed+Rated%29&partnum=86HR4HTRAS&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Volkswagen&autoYear=1992&autoModel=Jetta&autoModClar=

I guess I am not very demanding on car tires. All I want is an all season radial tire that gives good thread life and won't blow out on me if take good care of it. I don't drive at high speeds, 65 to 70 max is what it will see. I have never gotten a speeding ticket in a car and want to keep it that way. The only ticket was on a Ninja and I wasn't even going fast. I was riding alone doing 65 on a 55 mph parkway and got nabbed by a state trooper who had nothing better to do.  When I rode with the gang, we were crazy and did insane speeds and never got chased.

Cooper Tires CS4 TOURING

I have those but couldn't find them on the tirerack site. I will look for more that I have experience with.

I never ran these but a friend of mine has and loved them. On the brands that I don't know, I now wait to talk to someone I know to see if they had a good experience. I think any tire will hold up ok and not blow out on you, just a question of how long and will they give a good ride/grip.

Where's Kumho made? Sounds Asian. Made in China? I thought public opinion is that anything made in China is garbage.

I have been happy with Firestone Winterforce tires. I run them year round. They are great in the wet and in snow. Yes it is 90 today but they hold up fine in the dry. Got them from tire rack for a couple hundred.

I wasn't sure I was keeping the 86TD, so I had my local shop put on some not-so-expensive skins. Turns out, they are not-so-bad too.

I might have ~38K on them with plenty tread left. I did kill one on a pothole this winter... it didn't blow, but the sidewall bubbled.
