Passenger Performance
« on: March 21, 2006, 08:44:00 pm »
Well I figured that since Passenger Performance people post here a lot maybe I'll get a response from them here, and if not, maybe prevent others from getting screwed by them.

About 2 months ago a good buddy of mine ordered a 1.6L TD Down pipe from them, at first they told him that they don't have any and that his has to be made, but that should only be about 2 weeks....

Well, after a few weeks my buddy calls them after not hearing anything from them and they said that they have sent him an email about his order, but of course no email was sent.

A short discussion with him on last Tuesday (Mar. 14th) and he said that the part will be there any day now....

Well it's now Tues evening, 1 week later and still no part, and no answer from the many phone calls that were made to him since that last Tuesday.

It's sad to see that companies are run this way still, especially ones that seem to be "close with enthusiasts" but this is no way to run a proper business, unless you want bad advertising.

At the least Dave Cross could keep in touch with the people that give him money for his products in advance.

So again, I would like to warn people that Passenger Performance is not to be trusted with u'r money as far as I can tell... Very poor customer service and communication.  No parts for almost 2 months even with payment upfront.

I think your friend goes by the name of dave? The downpipe was sent back because canada post could not find the address, I sent an email asking for the address again and I am waiting for a reply. I think something is up with canada post because I snet thta downpipe and another one to the states ont he same day and they both came back a coupel weeks later. IF anyone has any problems call the shop, if no one answers LEAVE A MESSAGE, its a shop, its loud, I don;t get to the pohone int he middle of the day very often. I have no interest in taking someones money and not giving them the product they ordered. I know I don't get everything shipped out as soon as most would like but I am a one man shop and I am trying my hardest to pump stuff out for everyone. Like I said if you have a complaint, let me know and I will be more than willing to do what it takes to make you happy.

You are correct, my buddies name is Dave... and I feel somewhat responsible that he's paid for a product 2 months ago and still hasn't receieved it, as I am the one that reffered him to you.  So you can see my situation.

Along with the fact that messages have been left on your phone, and that you yourself should be the one calling customers when there is a delay in the process of ordering/shipping.

When people get left in the dark, and their money is gone to a place they just can't drive over to, they get nervous.  After him telling me this (that he wasn't able to get in touch with you for a few days, and that the part was promised to arrive a week ago) I decided to make a comment on here.

And yes my buddy told me that yesterday he did finallyl recieve an email about the package getting shipped back, and the need to confirm the address.

Let's hope everything goes smooth this time, I know that what happens with Canada Post is out of your control but keeping in touch with clients is the most important part of any business.

I know what it's like running a small busy shop.I can't always get to the phone either, and sometimes just don't have the time to chat when I'm busy. Most of our customer do know to leave a message, and I will call them back.

Canada post,or any of the shipping companies can be a PITA.I wish everyone was close by,so we wouldn't have to worry about shipping all the time.

the only problem i had with passenger performance was they never answer the tele or return calls left on the answering machine.

you could call 4 times a day and never get ahold of anyone.

this caused me to cancel a $120 order i had.

by all means dave, i understand you are probably a busy guy, but dont leve customers hanging like that.  get a secretary or something.

i got my flywheel done at a local place after i cancelled my order.

I have to say, I've had a lot of problems with shipping lately as well. Stuff going to Canada seems to be taking forever. Some things to Europe are also just plain getting lost. I may have to reevaluate my shipping methods soon.

While were on the subject of shipping..........anyone know of a good freight carrier to ship a crated engine to New Mexico ?

I can usually ship to the US no problem, but no one up here wants to go to New Mexico.

I can bring the engine to the US,and ship it from there if neccessary,as I'm close to the border.Anyone know of a company who can get it to New Mexico for a reasonable price ?

Notorius VR, I totslly understand your situation and would feel the same way if it was me, but your buddy dave knew before he ordered the DP that it was going to take a long while before I got more flex joints in, I wanst keeping him in the dark at all. I returned his calls and emails about when it would be ready. I am not scamming anyone, I'm doing this stuff to make big money its mroe to help out the community. All this said I know that I am hard to get a hold of but leave a message and I will get back to you.

Master ACid, sorry I missed your calls, I replied to all your pm's on here, I was waiting for your flywheel and it never showed, so I sent your money back.

AS for shipping, yeah its been lousy lately, I just sent giles a pump the other day for a customer and he sent it back express post which is supposed to be 1-2 days and it took 4 or 5 days and didn;t show up at the shop liek it was supposed to, it went to the post office. Obviously not giles fault, just the stupid shippers.

I will change my voicemail on the shop phone and make a note at the bottom of my signature on this forum saying I am hard to get a hold of and you should leave a message. Not trying to keep anypne int he dark here.

Patients.

Yea Dave took a while but give him some slack.  I was one of 3 people who worked in a busy shop in California and we were lucky to get a lunch much less go online and read emails. Crap happens.

Dave always anwsered my emails (eventually) and when the stuff came in he shipped it to me (Kansas City) Over night. He didnt have to but he did.

I guess I should get some money together and buy a bunch of his stuff and be a US distributer for him.

Thanks.

PS...UPS sucks.

I do alot of shipping from my small shop here in Montreal,
we use UPS, Purolator, Loomis and parcel post.
I would say parcel post is the slowest,  the others work great,
and for across the border shipment use only UPS.
Get set-up with the laser label printing software, get the clear labelobes and also the express packs for smaller parts.
We use a No. 5 Jiffy inside the Express Paks.
So far for the past 10 years not one parcel has been lost,
the barcode system really works well no matter who you use
( again parcel post for cheap , slow , large heavy low value items only )
Hope it all works out
Later
Hugh

I purchased a down pipe from Dave at Passenger.  Like all, I paid in advance.  From there everything went as he described.  I'd like to have recieved it faster but understood he could only do what he could do.  I followed up a couple times and did not hear right back.  I then kindly explained my frustration on his voice mail and he got right back to me.  Overall, I was totally satisfied with the "product", service being a part of that product!  I was just a little nervous on the front end because I paid in advance and only had Dave's reputation on this forum to go by.  Additionally, I was more nervous doing business out of the country.  My point is that I was hyper to the timeliness of his responses for fear of being ripped.

I have nothing to gain by vouching for Dave.  My experience is that he is an honest and reliable person to deal with.

The down pipe is great!

"Notorious", I think it would be fair if you changed the title of this post to prevent unfair bias.
