seriously... i told gm colbolt owner almost 2 years ago to ditch all the crap she had on the key ring... she left it with me as it dies for no reason.. i never had issue with single key.. watch her put key on her ring.. im like thats ypur issue!! ive replaced too many rabbit/mk2 ones due to same thing.. key ring weight (80s/early 90s)... and she not had issue since..

know how vw solved it in mk4?? the key ring loop breaks off key... when too much crap on it.. yea gotta buy 150$ key.. or drill new hole in it.. LOL suckers hit security chip whice then add more$$

really guys... keep key light.. house/work ok.. but all the extra crap.. no good for any car..

so vw.. gm screwed you!! when is our turn?

It's a bit more serious when it means that the car won't steer, can't brake, etc.

Apparently that crappy ignition switch GM was using has killed a few dozen people.

thats sort of what im saying.. i am saying same exact issue.. car stops/stalls when driving!! (then you get hit and die, back then dseatbelts were option too) does that way before it wont start, back then lots o fblame on fuel pump relays or cis issues.. or electronic modual issues.. if you own car with old old switch.. wiggle that key when running to see if it shuts off..

this was one of my first jobs changing them when pre 10... much like resetting westy bunny oxs/egr lights via coat hanger (made up properly, remove 3 scrws and turn on lights.. slip in.. click.. ) in under 2 min... this is the built in speedo reset levers.. not easy german...

same issue... just not part of internet back then.. no hey this is why you got hit storage of info... hell if im doing customer cars under age of 10... how many "shops" told dealer, vw, or recall people?????????

now.. explain to me how gm's recall do not effect us? less on road now... vs back then.. but same issue...

imo not gm's fault.. just ho wit is.. older gm the key would fall out hole when running when too heavy... new alarm stuff all of sudden vw issues.. :P

I wondered why the ignition on my dodge had such a heavy clank to it, like you are opening a gate or something.  I guess it keeps accidental  keyflops to a minimum.
Installs with S-torx too, like that would stop anyone who'd  go to the trouble of swapping out the ignition switch.

Someone still doesn't have safety torx bits?

I thought you had to use the 5-lobe torx to mess with people these days.

I have em, just thought it was a funny application.  Especially since you can grab the ignition with a vice grip and twist off the lock tumblerss in 30 seconds or less anyway.

ow push buttons solve most issues... :P not a hyndie though...

tip to screw with hyndie owner who you like to play with... let them start car.. then take his "box" away... hide it.. do road trip in 2 different cars following him... when you get to the final destination.. stay away from him.. do not get close with the silly "box"... unlike bmw or merc, a hundie requires thew "box" to turn off...

hyndie dealer mech told me of story of somehow guy lost his "box" after starting the car, but before having to turn it off (vac came off turnpike)... almost like he drove off with it on roof of car... but not "woman as no lost purse" issue... the day the little lady looses her purse on roof of hundie, how do you turn your car off when you get home?? how many "stupid" people will park it in their garage thinking ill goto dealer tomarrow letting it run?? seriously... people are not smart... i can see the recal now... how many hundie sucicides with missing boxes will there be?

yes how my brain functions... but interesting none the least to prank that buddy..

still need to test toyotas box one day... but bmw/benz you only get so many feet away..

weird, the little transponders in vw 'smart' keys are said to have a range of a few inches.

but i have seen a report about a woman who couldn't start her car after she changed the battery in the key fob, and something fell out which the dog ate.

She put the dog in the front seat to start the car to get it to the dealer.

well i figure hyndie guy got out of car, box hit ground under it.. he filled tank.. got in drove away.. its my only guess.. owner had no clue..

problem those silly boxes make owners lazy.. so when owners own say 86 928s... he things he can leve key in hole... garage kept thing.. but ill tell you what.. doing that then thinking it will start 36 hr later is a fail... trying to come to this truth took over 1.5 years of my asking are you sure you do not... the idiot you left key in hole circuit kills the batt.....

but all i can see is all those who have had issues with switcches that screwed them when driving using gm's recal to have a case on vw.. those acidents that say the passenger swore car died with lack of vw admitting issue now come to light... think of it as old dna comming to bite you in the ass from a 20 year old crime... how many cold cases have been cracked the past 10 years of bad bad things from dna... vw's dna just got scanned in... and its got great issues in that idea..
