Saw a 914 for sale, and I once saw one with an 8V gas engine instead of the airclooled pancake engine..
There's an AAZ sitting in the shed.....
What does it take to hook a WCVW to a 901 trans??
Plumbing the rad is the easy part.
Every 914 I've seen in the rustbelt wanted to fold when the roof was off. I'd look very carefully at those rockers.
saw a guy with a sbc in one... not sure that id want to ride in it haha.
rust and more rust. check the forward corners of the engine bay close, and the folding in half test as stated, pull top and make sure doors open and close and such.
I like em but wouldn't own one without a lift in my workspace.
ive driven the 2.0 5 speed one... supposedly more peppy then a 914-6 due to weight... i was not impressed... id rather play 911/930... 930 only car i bout shat myself when it hit...

such fun but not practicle in any way...

The difference in 914 and 911 restoration/project cars these days is like 100K, they're in no way comparable as project cars.
not if your looking for one for a tdi..... you go find a blown up 77ish-84ish with pulled studs/bad motor/tranny.. southern so rust free...
engine rebuilds and such are the $$
