"Hans Pries" 'made in germany' parts?
« on: March 01, 2014, 06:28:53 pm »
Looking for an oil pump upgrade for my 1.6 i came across this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/180564007294

UK seller, so it would take a few weeks to get here, but save me $20-$40.

Yes it says it's for a Ford Galaxy. a Ford Galaxy with an AHU engine.

any familiarity with the maker? most of these are made by Febi or Meyle near as i can tell. Never heard of this vendor.

Topran is a German company that buys parts from all over the world and then rebrands them as Topran. You never really know the country of origin.

I'd be more tempted to run an original OEM used oil pump than a new aftermarket one. The OEM seems to last a lot longer. If the vacuum pump tang is in good shape that is...

Yea I've been shown oil pumps that say made in germany but one is made in china but says made in germany. The way you can tell is the chinese ones look perfect and the german ones have excess casting as the germans would rather it function well and look bad rather than look good (be made of crap) and destroy the engine like the chinese..
