MK2 Giles Superpump in a MK1 Rabbit
« on: February 23, 2014, 11:53:25 am »
My question is this, I found someone selling a Giles rebuilt Superpump from their MK2 1.6TD and I was wondering if it's a straight bolt up to my 83 1.6td or if it needs mods to work or maybe it won't work at all. I'm a noob and I'm learning as I go lol

Straight bolt in!

You do of course have to set the timing as part of the pump swap. It is a good time to do the timing belt if it hasn't been done in recent memory since you need to do most of the same work.

What about a Giles pump for a 1.9 AAZ? Here's the original post:

I have an almost brand new Giles pump for a 1.9TD AAZ engine for sale. Almost brand new as it was used for less than 2 months (maybe 1500km). Pumps work great, great performance for the short time I had to enjoyed it before the car decided to fall apart. A bit sad to let it go, but I have to reduce my car "collection", and the dead Jetta needs to go.

Specs:

"Stage 1" rebuild
5200 rpm redline
for up to 1.5bar (22psi) turbo pressure

I will also include the sprocket and injector hardlines (x4)

I agree with the above - ask Giles, he's a great guy and suppose can tell you everything you need to know about "his" pump. Have the numbers ready when you call/email him.
