Engine lifting hooks and egt probe questions
« on: February 16, 2014, 10:16:07 am »
1993 AAZ......into an 87 Samurai

Since I got my engine as a short block and pieces, with many missing pieces, I'm not sure where the lifting hooks go [for attaching the cherry picker chain / bar] or even what they look like?

Also, wanting to drill a 1/8th NPT hole in the exhaust manifold for a future egt probe. Where should it go.......in the stud-hole? Just before the stud hole on the nickel sizes flat spot on the manifold?
I've seen a few pics of both installations. What is that exhaust bracket [ that bolts onto the two studs near the exhaust flange ] for anyway? I'm not sure if I will need that bracket for my sami swap or not. I will have a custom exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold flange to tail pipe.

I have the K03 turbo with the 3 bolt / triangular shaped flange on the exhaust manifold.

Thanks for your help.

On the 1.6, the right side has a short tab that attaches at the same boss as the upper alternator bracket. The other end of the head has a cast flange with a hole (near the corner of the valve cover).
