is there a gasket between the elbow coming off the turbo and the intake. Their was just silicone on it when I took it apart. Just wondering if there is a gasket for it or not?

I decided there ought to be a gasket there and made one out of gasket paper. It was pretty easy because it's not a complicated shape and it sealed.

I think that is what I'm going to do. I'm waiting some other parts so I just wanted to get some other opinions on it.

I never knew that. When I got my first turbo diesel it had a gasket there. And I got another engine with one there, so I have always made my own and coat it with copper spray. Can't say I have had any problems.

I have always used a skin of RTV Copper there with no issues. There was nothing there when I first pulled mine apart and likewise decided a bit of RTV wouldn't hurt.
