Yep that k03 flange is smaller than an individual runner. I removed as much metal as I thought I could get away with. This is really sort of an emergency measure. I had two hundred bucks and two days of nice weather to get it together, so it's pretty ghetto-fabricus. But it's in. I lost a fitting for the oil supply in the dark, otherwise my neighbors would be enjoying the sound of choked t3 through an open 2.25" dp.
"ghetto-fabricus" - love it.
Hopefully your fitting didn't fall in the gravel you're working on. Sounds like it's almost back to a running machine though - goodonya.
This thread is Sofa King great!
Laggy isn't the appropriate term. She doesn't make boost until 40 in second, builds to 10lbs fairly quickly, and she'll only rev to about 55-60 in second (ctn o2a). It's almost undriveable at 10,000 feet, but so much better than no turbo. (the off turbo power is way better with the Ko3/2" downpipe gone) I have the wastegate pretty tight, but there is no seal on compressor scroll (fell apart when cleaning). I also don't have the two center bolt in the intake manifold at the moment, but I don't think it's much of a boost leak. Just too big of a turbo. At least I only spent $50 for turbo and $15 for downpipe.
The good news is that a friend from the vortex forums is willing to lend/trade me a turbo for a late aaz pump (he's building a m-tdi vanagon), either the k03 sized garrett from an 1z in good working condition, or an early vnt from an alh with stuck vanes. As much as I want the vnt and am pretty confident I can rig vac or mech control, without a vice or a torch to help open housing, I'm leaning towards the wastegate turbo, for now anyway...
the good news is youre fired

put some rtv on the compressor housing to seal it up... ur gonna over spin that turbo and ruin it too.
I'm on it, couldn't find any before, at least I can drive to the store now.
Get a k14 or a t2 much better flow. Mod - burn your money - can get new t2's.
I can get new K14s. I haven't checked for T2s.
$850 per his email to me last month. Tyler I just went back and read the email yep it was k14 i got all mixed up in our discussion. He ended up going with a vnt sorry I forgot to respond. There is another guy here looking for a k14 though I will see if he wants one.

If you go to the store, don't forget your un-tippable coffee cup.
I might be headed your way in 2-3 weeks, I could probably lend a hand in some fashion if you're still in need...
