1981 Caddy pickup Turbo Diesel
« on: November 20, 2013, 04:51:40 pm »

'81 Caddy Pickup with a 1.6 Turbo Diesel motor, fully rebuilt 40,000 miles ago. 4-speed manual trans. Rebuild was new pistons, bearings, rings, overbore, rebuilt head, rebuilt and modified injection pump.  New waterpump recently.

Truck has been totally mechanically rebuilt within last 40,000 miles......new:
-front struts, wheel bearings, brakes, cv joints, shift linkage bushings, strut mounts, brake lines.

The truck was also cosmetically modified or restored inside, and some outside:
-interior fully removed and sound deadening installed throughout.
-perfect original dash installed
-GTI seats
-new carpet
-GTI center console three gauge
-GTI leather steering wheel
-new stereo (needs good speakers though)
-new headliner
-new windshield seal
-odometer fixed

Outside:
-Mini Cooper 15 inch wheels
-GTI fender flares
-heavy duty rear bumper
-Heavy duty helper springs to assist the 30 year old sagging rear springs.

Body has no rust, including strut towers, which is typically where these trucks rust badly.
Paint is faded, and gets a bit chalky.....it really could use a fresh paint job.
cargo bed floor is wavy, but no holes rusted through.

When engine was installed, Garrett T3 turbo was rebuilt, and custom 2 1/4 inch exhaust made from turbo to tailpipe.

This truck runs awesome, gets an honest 50mpg, is smooth and pulls good. Transmission shifts great, everything works, except the clock. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross country today.

It was not originally installed with A/C, however, I parted out a A/C equipped truck, and kept all the necessary A/C components, from the engine to the dash. So you can have all that and install it if you want. The alternator v-belt system is already setup with an A/C compressor installed, so that part is already done.

I am not interested in trades, sorry.

$7000

CASH ONLY, I have a clear Texas title in my name.

The fuel filter mount is from a Quantum TD I think, and it bolts nicely to the firewall....you can see it in the pic of the motor.
The airbox is I think from a VW gasser....I modified the snout that connects to the airtube....made it bigger to match the airtube.  Actually came out very nice.
