I only use auber instrument gages now.   Kind of expensive but I learned my lesson with ebay cheapos breaking.

Only thing that sucks about them is they can only read one input at a time so if using to monitor and set alarms for critical things you need to buy more than one controller.  if you don't have a place to mount them they also sell little boxes to protect the guts and you can velcro them somewhere or something, otherwise lots of wires hanging.

A million times this has been discussed. Westach and aircraft spruce are very good. The micro 1000 probe is all I would ever use for the pyro.

Try 'EGT gauge'.  You'll get 26 pages of threads...

I bought mine from McNally... It is a dual gauge for boost and EGT. The boost uses a sensor to read pressure with an analog face, and the EGT uses a probe with a digital readout...

Fairly expensive, but sweet...

It's just a temperature... Reads to 4 digit temps.

This webpage which refers to the gauge that I bought says it is good to 1873 deg F.
You actually had me worried for a minute, and I had to check again. I knew I wouldn't have bought a gauge that would be so limited!
Hopefully I never see those temps!

I used this probe (for EGT) it's very fast.

http://thesensorconnection.com/egt-probes/all-egt-probes/egt-probe-diesel-biodiesel-fast-response-18-diameter

And this gauge

http://thesensorconnection.com/gauges-pyrometers/all-gauges-pyrometers/4-channel-digital-thermocouple-pyrometer-gauge

I also have sensors for intake air temp (post IC), water temp, and oil temp. The gauge displays all four in various formats. Cheap - no. Informative - very.

Second on the Micro 1000 (from Aircraft Spruce) or other small probe; it responds instantly.
