Oil Squirters for TDIs - different than TDs?
« on: November 06, 2013, 08:21:43 pm »
Anyone know if the oil squirters for the TDIs are really that different from the TD ones?

Best price I'm finding for TDI squirters is about $30/ea with prices going up to $47/ea, whereas I've seen the 1.6TD ones for less than $10.

There was a change with the TDI squirters, but I don't recall if it is mid-run on the AAZ or mid-run on the AHU/1Z.  They went to a single hole banjo style squirter instead of the 1.6TD style that has a hole for the oil valve and a hole for the bolt.

Gotcha - that'd probably be it.  All the 1Z/AHU ones I've seen have been the banjo style, so I'm guessing it changed during the AAZ run.

Another day, another $120....

All the AHU 1Z ones I have seen are identical to the 1.6 ones. I've taken apart 99 AHUs as well.

I have a bunch of used ones available if you need that style.

According to ETKA they changed the squirters mid-run of BOTH the AAZ and the AHU.  The transition block number for the AAZ is 720935.  The transition code for the AHU is 100000.

Thanks - I still have mine and they are all undamaged (or at least they were when the block went in to the machine shop!!) - I know on the 1.6 side everyone was generally saying to replace them at rebuild?

Gotcha - when I get my block back I guess I'll have to see what I actually have, didn't look that closely at the time.
