what psi do you roll on?
« on: March 18, 2006, 07:11:24 pm »
I got a some Falken Ziex ZE-512 195/50/15's and last month I pumped them up to 48psi (max 51psi) I am going to check tire pressure again monday and refill as needed. I noticed about 3-4mpg different from the 32psi the shop put in them.

next tires will be alittle skinnier like 185's, I got 45mpg traveling 70mph 140mi, then doing 80-85mph back, and then 60 miles of my normal driving which usually gets me 38mpg on winterized diesel the other week. Not to bad since the last tank I ran on my car with 175's 13's got me 48mpg on summer diesel and driving no faster than 70mph

so how high do you roll?

A little 8 PSI (stock boost, fuel pump has troubles) winter mode.

Last summer, 16 PSI. 28PSI when the wastegate was stuck.
Jetta MK3 coupe: new project, 2.0 16V TDI BKD, R1287, ARL conn rods, GTB2260VK, FMIC, etc... (build-up very soon)

Be patient with me, english is not my first language!

I do it like the tank cap sticker says: 1.8 - 2.2 bar (27 - 32 psi)

Id go a bit higher unless you are running the same tyres & wheels that came out of the factory with that sticker.

have a look at the max psi written on the actual tyres & go 1 or 2 psi lower & see how that feels.

I'm running with 185/60R14 and this size is on that sticker.
