with speedo removed, 1 front wheel off ground... start car, put in reverse... as cable turns squirt nice chain type lube down spinning cable...
note.. wrong gear.. it will NOT SUCK the fluid down... why i say put in reverse...
note#2... put rag as at where you just sprayed.. put in other gear to flow the excess oil back out cable.. else will drip on your leg when driving..
product i use is endura made by castle
p.s. this works on all vw speedo cables... easy to do.. but overlooked...
you can also over fill the tranny.. the excess oil will travel thru the cable, up to speedo and run onto your leg.. but imo.. gear oil smells too much.. blown seal auto vw with too much atf in the gear/final drive section can do this..

toyotas do too!!!! ive seen it...
love the doubters.... dumb asses... ive done it quite a few times on many different ones.. even bugs/busses yu spin the front wheel to get it to feed..
what they missing is the actual cable will draw the fluid down its self if you spray while going the right direction...

course it will, its a cable, and its basically like a screw at the same time..
twist it the right way, and it just sucks the oil down..
ancient water pumps were basically a big screw inside a tube...
