K14 wastegate adjust screw MIA need advice for replace
« on: September 25, 2013, 07:54:51 pm »
K14 wastegate adjust screw MIA. It was there and now it's MIA.
Looking for options to find a replacement adjust screw and lock-nut. We're in California.
What vehicles might have the K14 when we go junkyard hunting?
Since the old wastegate screw fell out, is there anything inside that might have fallen out of alignment that would create a problem trying to put another wastegate adjusting screw and lock-nut in?
If you have one you're willing to part with, let us know.
It's an 81 Rabbit diesel with a 1.6TD ECOdiesel motor with a TD pump.
Any advice, suggestions, etc, welcomed. Thanks.

You should be able to put any jam nut on for a stop. Also for the adjustment screw I think they were M6-1.0 so go to a hardware or bolt store and get an M6-1.0 x however long *probably 30mm* socket set screw. It could be any kind of point, dog point, 1/2 dog point, cup point...it wont matter and thread it in. You should have no issues. I don't think there is anything that has to have pressure on it inside the wastegate, so you should be ok. As soon as you get a new piece you should know if it doesn't feel right threading it in and then check with compressed air to make sure it opens normally.

Also make sure on the size. It may not be m6
