AEB 1.8T Pulled it out of a '98 Passat for a school project with a friend. Engine has 168k miles on it, and came out of a manual trans car. The whole thing is disassembled (was set up as a diagram for engine operation as per the project). The block was cleaned and fine honed in preparation for new rings, and the crank was cleaned also; we planned on rebuilding it and selling it like that, but he graduated and went to college and left the engine to me.
Everything is here, minus the water pump and housing (leaked and cracking, respectively). Turbo still spins with minimal shaft play. Even have the coils, fuel rail and injectors, and full engine wiring harness (no ECM, sorry; was damaged). The downsides are that I don't have all the removed hardware organized, and since it's a Passat engine everything is set up for longitudinal mounting.
I think it's worth about $400 altogether, but I wouldn't mind negotiating a bit. I'm looking to get rid of it all together since space is at a premium and I don't need this thing taking up space forever. I will be attending H2O this year, so anyone looking for this engine for their MK1 1.8T project and will be there too, I'll haul it down and bring it to you. I'd be more than happy to answer your questions about the engine.
