Gutting a power steering pump
« on: September 16, 2013, 10:27:30 am »
In search for a solution to the dilemma between wanting to keep the AC but delete powersteering on the AAZ serpentine set up I think I might have stumbled upon the solution, why dont we gut the powersteering pump so it acts like an idler pulley? doing some quick google searches I noticed this is not unheard of in the automotive world.

ilook in tdi section.. search key word quantium water pump pully... it is a 2 piece design that uses shims.. libby posted part numbers... all it does is crank to water pump.. so belt last long time...

dashers also have this.. but wrong hub.. aka old big hub waterpump... why quantium is what you seek..

Yup, I've been running the serp belt on the alt and A/C compressor and the v-belt on just the water pump on my AHU mTDI for a few years now.  The Quantum water pump pulley flipped backwards is the ticket.
