Caddy spare unused wire from engine to cabin?
« on: July 26, 2013, 07:29:42 am »
Got the tach working and calibrated in the Caddy, even added a digital clock where the upshift light used to be. As you can see, the temporary W terminal white wire is coming in on the left through the door. Is there an unused wire  from the engine compartment into the cabin that I can use so I don't have to fish the white wire through? I have not found a good spot to fish the wire through and I hate fishing wires.

Upshift light so this is the later fuse box.
What I would do is upgrade the radiator fan wiring so the relay is on the radiator shroud. Like the MK2s.
Fused right to the battery all in one area, easy to troubleshoot.

There are several wires running back and forth from the relay to the rad fan thermoswitch.
One powers the thermoswitch, then one sends that info back through the firewall to the relay, and one going back out that powers the fan.
Keep one for the manual rad fan switch,.. so when it overheats in rush hour traffic you can just laugh and hit the switch,.. watch the temp go down ;D.
 If you are keeping score:
 YOU 1
 CAR 0

 2 wires left.
and a spare relay spot for a reverse light relay,.. since the reverse light wire goes right past it,..
and you know the lights will burn out the expensive/fragile  reverse switch.
The 2-pole switches aren't as spendy or fragile.

Lots of great ideas I'll have to look into. Come to think of it I'll need extra wires also for coolant level, oil level and other level and temp sensors. If it comes to that any ideas on how to run a 10 conductor cable? Besides, I don't really want to butcher the stock wiring and want to be able to return it to stock from any mods that I do make.
