That is pretty cool!!

Although it could use some bigger wheels.
Neato - I'd never put a ton on those tires though. Wonder what finding parts would be like.
My VW LT31 runs 195R14 tires

It weighs in over 6000 lbs fully loaded with passengers for travel.
Thanks, now I am missing our old 309 party barge
If you've never seen one think

With a stout 350 and Allison 4 speed, it did pretty good.

That so neat looking.

Would like to hear the story behind it.
The o 309 D was a Minibus sold inthe US in and around 1979.
It had a big slow 50 HP diesel, but got great MPG
Turning radius was fantabulous thanks to a high steer angle, I think it did a Uturn about as wide as my caddy.
This girl I knew bought one in 05 or so, and it already had a Chevy 350 4barrel motor, air assist brakes, and Allison AT540, pretty much making it a 2 ton truck.
the rearend was lunched, so we bought one that had been killed with hippie fuel and had no brakes for $400 When she was game to drive it off the trailer with no brakes on my advice of 'worst case it will tip over, but you won't die', I knew she was a keeper.
so we put it together, and headed out to burningman.
Built for a long time under license, maybe still in Iran.
Some pics getting it ready^
)ne from the front, the parts bus, a friend working out of my Caddy, and the owner.
$10800. I would think the seller should be happy with that number.
I just noticed that this truck doesn't have a 3rd door? That's a bit odd, isn't it? Handy if your kids are "jumpers" I suppose but in any other circumstance it would be cumbersome to get in/out especially for large adults.
I saw that one. That's the second LT Syncro Doka on the samba in under 6 mos. Those look to be a real beast! I would bet the gearing would be exceptionally short though.
Looking at that ad made me walk out to the driveway and sit in my LT.
