Wtb passat tdi harness
« on: July 07, 2013, 02:31:49 pm »
I have an ahu jetta harness I've been modding for a mk2 swap, turns out all the brake/clutch wires have been cut out, as well as all the go pedal wires... And the windshield wiper harness.

Some damaged wires in the harness randomly throughout as we'll, it looks like I'd be better off starting with a good harness, and might as well use a passat one

you know those are individual harnesses right??

i lay it all out on the floor.. me in middle.. one harness to left, one to right.. books behind.. new harness in front..

rear harness is easy to splice plug to swap it..

i try to reuse the old mk2 wires as much as possiblke as they are nice and thick vs ce2 for things like wipers, lights and load drawing items..

but each one of the harness you speak of plug into different spot on fusebox.. so if you need a go one.. get a go pedal one... wipers.. simple wipers.... heater.. id be splicing to ce2 plugs.. headlights.. old vs new..

things to watch for.. washer.. needs a bridge else wipers will squirt but not turn on.. and horn. my fav.. ce2 controls the ground side.. older controls hot side... horn just blows and blows... but to know those things... run new ground wire.. LOL.. add jumper. . found those on my 81 to ce2 swap..

i dont know what you mean about individual harness...

i mean if you trace the plugs from the fuse box some of them are, like the windshield wipers. i was trying to use as much mk2 stuff as i can from the mk2... thought the windshield wiper harness was in remaining harness left in the bay (the one other than the engine harness)

its not too bad, but ive made some mistakes, and the harness was already pretty chopped up when i got it

Better as in better quality wires used? My b3 wiring is so hard and brittle

all the go pedal wires are hack up, those go straight to the ecu so i have to splice them all back together... i hate doing that

same with a few other connectors

You realize that there is no modification needed to a tdi swap. You just enlarge one of the holes on the firewall and push the whole bundle through. Everything is plug and play.

mk3 -> mk3 yeah, but not mk3->mk2

especially when all the lighting, and some other plugs have been cut off and require repair

yep mk3 sux as all in 1 vs b4.. but to use all mk3 up front... lights are lights (all i need is 1 side to operate headlight relays, wanna tuck rest of wires too for turns and such.. ).. horn is horn.. the 86 vr6t im putting mk3 ce2 in and moddin what i need under hood for lights and stuff.. hydro master screws up stock wire holes.. so new single big hole not issue vs 3 of them...

i was thinking you needed harness parts/pieces for wipers and such.. and converting to ce2.. honestly.. do the complete mk3 under hood.. yes your original ce2 stuff better.. but for your ease expecially with below..

you will have to mod/fill holes anyways.. black marks get cut.. the plate/master cover it all..

pedals.. you keep saying its part of the harness.. i do not think so still... i think the pedals are their own harness.. operates cruize (clutch/brake kill), and go pedal.. brake light switch may or may not be in that harness.. but the go pedal may have had a harness plug to the front harness.. but still its got a "splice/plug" between/around where it comes into the firewall then goes to the go pedal.. they missed that plug and pulled/cut vs unplugging..
