Alh 143,000 automatic
its for her. Most servicing done at 100,000. He even said he would throw in "performance injectors" he bought but didnt like.. not sure what that means but I'll take it. Is a stage 1 worth it on an auto to improve fuel Economy and add a bit of power?

looks like malone offers an eco tune adds some low end torque and 3+ mpg for 150 bucks. Also probanly going to eventually do a pd intake and a race pipe to get rid of the soot trap(egr) any mods done to this car will be only in the name of economy.

most autos around here you could set time with...they go bad at 150,000 give or take 2,000 miles. Plan to do a manual swap or trade her

no.. you missed it... its his other half's car.. and working clutch makes it all sweaty in the fold so not allowed..
the one i deal with has 300k on it lucas.. stock hp... tranny never touuched ever.. got it from original buyer how i know.. dipstick tube not even installed on it to date...
so vs the ones i know that failed around 80k... that had spin on oil filters added like 90passats had, and the oil serviced at 30k... they did not make 100k...

I have a 2002 Jetta wagon. It lost reverse at 240,000 miles. As mentioned the 01m is notoriously weak. That said, there are MANY people who have 200,000+ miles on the original trans. I totally agree that you should not plan any performance mods. It might even be wise to put a shim under the go pedal.

The 01M is why I went for the 1.8T for my better half's wagon. Different transmission!

she wanted things like bmw... i still wonder how tdi wagon will ever = big titty effect she wanted.. and sadly kinda justified for.. what she needs is a roomy diesel sports car.. they do not make.. but what she needs.. in auto..

yea... but bmw/audi repair bills silly stupid and way outside your abilities.. to justify for "economical work car"
one day she will find the client that pays for her to own a nice sel benz...
i think you need to go old school late 70s benz with td set up..

libby's car be heck of start bbob... then find one of those late 60s with all the chrome.. some pastel panama brown color.. nice wheels... hell think she find new clients just puttin fuel in.. sadly the 83ish 300 body is "boring" in its lines vs late 60s/early 70s versions..
but 300d go long time.. and im sure libby got that sucker pumped up.. stock they pretty lame.. if the hp can double on vw id expect those do too.. i just like the older lines more..

Were you able to talk him down any on the price? It was a clean looking car though, especially for all of those kids he had.

Kind of the same thing I told him. The tranny didn't look like it had been touched yet. The ring on the oil fill tube was nice and not marred up by a screwdriver.
