Hi Folks
I have searched the site but need a definitive yes or no,
I have been running a GTD as my daily driver now for a number of years, ran it fine, until one day after colossal milage it decided it needed retirement.
I pulled the 1600 turbo diesel (SB engine) and tranny and installed a 1900 1Y engine (with D/TD stamped on block) from a early MK3 Golf, teamed it up with the intercooler, and used it with the MK3 gear box, gearbox code CHC 150 64 146, as the engine and box had low milage. I'm aware you guys over the pond didn't get the 1Y engine.
I have had 20, 000 happy maintenance free motoring until the bottom pully bolt decided to come undone, bad luck for me, (I didn't check, I'm old enough to know better, experience, hey).
One rebuilt head, engine back in car, skinned knuckles as proof.
However, the flywheel (067 105 273) has (6 bolts) and has some teeth missing, so I don't want to put this back on, the clutch is a 200 clutch plate, and with the tweaks done to the engine, if I was driving "hard" used to slip sometimes,
No problem, I say, take the flywheel off the 1600TD, this uses a 210 clutch (with 9 bolts) code 027 105 273.
The 210 flywheel is slightly different from the 200 in thickness, and searching the site is classed as a good upgrade, but what I need to know is if I use a 210 clutch, flywheel, PP will it work in the CHC gearbox? without changing the starter motor?
much appreciated if somebody could clarify for me as I'm desperate to get it back on the road.
