wtb 1.5 fuel filter housing

I'm looking for the spin on type fuel filter housing. I think its clean looking. I've tried after market ones but they seem to big or dont line up right or what ever. So Id really like a 1.5 diesel one and the part number for the filter. Thanks

is there a difference between 1.5 and 1.6 or is it just a mk1 thing?
You are talking about the bracket that bolts to another bracket that bolts to the passenger side tower?
I have taken all that stuff off each mk1 I come across to put on a simple mk2 fuel filter, mount with one run of clear hose inbetween the rest in the engine bay.
That unit has fittings on it that run into rubber hoses that clamp onto the metal fuel lines?
I was just about to throw them away.

wish i had a picture. Not sure if its mk1 or 1.5 specific. Its a spin on filter to a filter housing. Not the bracket like on my mark 2. I have a million mk 2 filters for the bracket i dont like the fuel heater return. I think one im looking for requires banjo fittings to the filter.
Maybe ill post a box of those filters on here for sale.

Not all MK2 filters have preheaters. Also 1.6 MK1 filters are spin on. I assume they are the same as 1.5's.

I don't believe there's any difference at all for mk1 style housings, any year.
Early mk2 filters have no heater, only an "in" and "out" but personally like the mk1 type because they do not require you to disconnect the hoses to change the filter (though they are apparently more prone to leaks).
The mk1 housing does not fit on an mk2 without some (relatively minor) modifications to the car. Another option is the Audi 4000 filter, which uses the mk1 style spin-on but sort of mounted on the firewall.

Because the turbo diesels have the big hose going from turbo to air filter, I chose to put mine down beside my washer bottle on a very convenient bracket already there as opposed to back in on the strut tower. Lots of room, and I am actually going to be spinning one of these on there for my next filter change.. Nearly twice the filter!

Doesn't have to be a Volkswagen piece.. You could use ANY fuel filter mount with barbed fittings.. Think, Marine applications.
That will spin on that big bad boy I pictured, and cost probably the same to find an mk1 vw piece. If you would like, I can price it out through work and probably even order it and ship it to you if you so desire.

I've tried numerous ones. I got one that would fit (mounting wise) from an autoparts store and I went to a marine store to get the fittings and they told me not to use that filter with diesel fuel. Insted of asking the marine store to find me a diesel filter I went back to the auto store and told them to find one, I thought they did but then it didn't thread on to the filter housing. I have a massive 2 micron raccor that wont fit on any whare on the car and a large box of fleet gaurd (cummins) brand filters that wont fit or wont thread on the housings I have. Fuel filters are driving me insane. I tried to get the drop in replacment raccor that some one listed the part number on here for, looked awesome but the only retailer that I could find requiered a minimum order of 10. At like 20 a pop that was out of my price range.
