This is my last wire to track down in engine bay, I think this is a factory ground wire but I haven't seen it on other cars thus far?

Its coming from the loom that has the upshift connectors that go to ip bracket.

I was guessing it might be an alternator ground since none of the vw sensors use an eyelet like that, but it doesn't reach as far as the upshift wires and I can't see pulling that off.

Maybe it goes to a valve cover bolt like I have seen on some gas cars, I am clueless?  Thanks for any info!

I have a bently but got confused as it has like 5 different vehicles in one area and had a couple questions based on what it said and what I see in my truck :)    Maybe I am color blind.

Sounds like the stop solenoid.  If it is, then you'll be cursing if you connect it to ground.  It is an unfused circuit...

sorry here is a pic, blue and black wire are hot with ignition.  the eyelet is throwing me off, i have always seen a slide on fitting over the injection pump solenoid?

so if d+ is apart of mk1 alternator harness, then out of the 3 wires i have dangling free one is the injection pump and the other is the alts w lead?

what is the third one?  i am not use to having an extra wire in that area in any non ac car i have had yet :)

On another note I am just testing out electrics and got all sorts of issues.  I didn't notice before but did the 82 truck have no side running lights?  My panels are all solid.

No tails or inside lights of course when turning the headlight switch and assume the brake red should be lit, what about the front turn signals?

the bk/wt i think is w.. going to have to look at the bently thooug to be sure...

the bk with eye is pump... westy screwed on to it.. german used female and slid onto a boilted on spade...

the bluish/green if lime green ac... else not positive.. but it would run to the upper front neck tpo a switch that turned the ac off if the coolent got too hot.. else oil filter housing for its op switch.. then u shuld also have one on side of head.. and 2 coolent too..

My guess (without pulling out the wiring diagram) is that blue and black/white are the two wires that go to the high temp A/C cutoff switch to interrupt the compressor clutch if over-temp.  The black with the loop is definitely the stop solenoid wire.

libby, the interupt circuit is actually 1 wire in, other out to comp.. both same color.. ive seen people use them to kill pump power when their better halfs dislike blinking lights... im thinking oil light.. w should be in alt harness though.. so both may be oil pressure..
