Before I purchase a replacement panel....
«

So I discovered the seam at the bottom of my windshield on my 1992 cabriolet is rotted all to heck and instead of tack welding in tiny replacement panels Im just going to purchase the whole reproduction part. Now I could only find a replacement panel for 1975 to 1984 vw rabbit. So just making absolutely sure the piece I purchase will 100% fit.
Anyways here is the link

75-83 is rope-in
84-on is glue in..
the pieces ARE different..

According to what I have heard online the only difference was the size of the glass? I do have a glue in windsheild but was planning on swapping a rope in windsheild instaead as the glue-in trim is no longer available. But if the frame pieces are different this idea is going no-where.

yeah the metal is the same on both, the seal and glass are different and also the interior a pillar trim is different. but it can shave down the plastic so it fits fine, i did this in my old 83 when we swapped to the rope in

BTW. None of the replacement bit is an exact fit. Its just a good starting place.
