SOLD_SOLD_SOLD

Solid Body- Zero Rust on 99.8% of the car. Tiny rust spots at the bottom of one door. I sprayed them with rust convertor when I got the car 5 years ago and they haven't changed. Some rust was under the battery, but sprayed with rust convertor and is solid.

True TD engine that was bored out to second oversize and fitted with All German top notch parts. Crank was polished. Block was cleaned and painted.

Engine has new glow plugs and injectors along with a "pimp your glow plug setup" that makes the glow plugs work much better.

Car starts right up when cold. Started up fine in 20 degree weather.

Battery is 6 mths old and is 880 CCA Duracell

Alternator was rebuilt to new specs at a Bosch Authorized Shop

New steering rack and tie rods installed with rebuild

  New clutch installed

New A/C Compressor installed but not hooked up

All new german gasket set used

  Momo Steering Wheel

Recaro Orthopedic seat in rough shape, but fixable

  Diesel Speedometer with Tachometer

Oil pressure gauge with copper lines

Upgraded springs with new struts about two years ago

Driven over 6months/ 5,000 miles on the engine rebuild

Interior of car is decent. No cracks in the dash and headliner has a few, but is useable.

  Decent tires and brakes.

This car was my daily driver until the clutch issues derailed me.

The Bad:

Something is wrong with the clutch. Possibly the throwout bearing is bad. I can not shift into gear when the car is running.

The oil pan is missing 2-3 bolts that need to be tapped out and rethreaded.

There is a moderate oil leak that appears to be coming from the oil pan.

It has also been mentioned to me that the rear main seal may not have seated properly causing the oil leak and also possibly contributing to the clutch issue.

Due to the clutch issues, the car must be towed. I considered taking off the transmission and fixing the problems myself, but due to working 3 jobs, I don't have the time to do it. It may be a very easy fix, or it may require the tranny to be pulled and the throwout bearing replaced. Still an awesome, very rare in the states engine, that runs great, with a TD injection pump that is purring away.

Seeking $2,000

Pollen covered car pics below on my Flickr account. I also have a movie of car starting cold, but not able to u/l it right now due to lack of bandwidth

Any questions? Ask away. Much time and energy was poured into this car, and it would be cool to see someone with more time than me, fix it and enjoy it.

bbob.. in backyard.. 8hr max... just you gotts remove the pass side flange from tranny or you will fight it..

i myself think 6hr.. + pulling vac pump.. use drill to check his rear main seal when apart.. and fix if it leaks.. 250+parts+tip for backyard work/fuel

i can do 4hr ish in a garage w/concrete floor.... hate dirt/rock/grass.. but sheet of osb..

This car has been a labor of love over the last 5 years, but I have to find it a good home and pay for my education!!!  I currently work Special Ed full time and have two part-time jobs. My girlfriend made me a deal on her old car that I couldn't pass up.

I will be back to diesel as soon as possible, but I have to get a better job first!!!

My Golf is currently under my carport with concrete slab. I have an engine hoist, floor jack, and assorted tools. I am open to reasonable deals. Whoever gets this car will be getting it for thousands less than I have in it.

I also have extra engine parts from 1.6 D

Damn your girl is cheap eh? Making you pay for her old car? If I were you I would just "borrow" it. She can take care of registration and insurance. Lol. Tell her you are keeping it fresh and running right. Meanwhile you can keep pumping the money you saved into your VW. LOL.

for this kinda cash, you might have better luck parting the car out..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.
