You don't need this tool for installs, removal only.

If you have an alternator without a clutched pulley but you are upgrading to a clutched pulley there is no need for this tool. An impact will easily take off the old pulley and then the new clutched one just threads on. The belt naturally tightens it. Removing the clutched pulley requires this tool.

$15 is a good price. And the clutched pulleys do fail (so check them every now and again) so it may end up coming in handy.
