1.9 td power problems
« on: April 01, 2013, 04:54:51 pm »
 i got a mk1 caddy with a 1z with a aaz pump.
when i go wide open throttle it falls on its face 75% if the time.
to me it seems like a fuel issue but i dont know.
when it does drop off it seems like the engine cut off but it still running you just gotta let of the throttle.
could it be the fuel cut off solenoid on the injector pump going bad?

If this isn't a troll account then the problem is the 1z is a TDI engine and the AAZ pump is an IDI pump. Read the FAQ and the TDI section, search M-TDI.

if you ran it out of fuel.. you may have dislogged some ***e in there and got it clogged up worse? Try running on a clean jerry can of diesel no filter.

it changed the k@n filter (knock off)

I think it worked

Two filters?

Your filter is an open element cone I presume? You'd get better performance with the stock air box.. rather than a dirty K&N knockoff (as can be seen).

I'd look for a stock airbox.
