Hey all ive got an oil leak in the front lower part of my motor, the passenger side, im getting ready to pull off my crankshaft bolt and i wanted to know if that was reverse thread or not?
only cars that run reverse threaded crank bolts, are FWD hondas, and some FWD/AWD mitsubishi's because the engine spins the opposite direction..
VW engines rotate the proper direction..
Just an FYI, just because it drips from near the crank sprocket doesn't mean it is the crank seal leaking. It could also be the valve cover, the cam seal, the intermediate shaft seal, the intermediate shaft seal carrier o-ring or the oil galley plug next to the intermediate shaft seal carrier. You might want to pull the timing cover and track upwards to see where the leak starts. Crank seal is the hardest of all to change.
LoL ok all in my haste when putting the motor together i left out one important detail, i forgot to put in the intermediate shaft seal...

seal has finally been installed lol
