FS: complete rebuildable 01M setup for TDI
« on: March 12, 2013, 12:59:46 pm »
This is kind of a feeler - to see who's interested.

This is a non-functioning 01M transmission from a 2002 TDi wagon (code FDB). It was in the car until yesterday - I'm swapping to a manual. It went out last week. I took it to a shop (I didn't have a VAG-COM at the time) to have them check it for codes - nothing, so I have to believe that the valvebody and any electrical parts could be used. They dropped the pan and there was a substantial amount of metal bits. They advised a rebuild but I wanted a manual anyway (got a great deal on the auto - even with this swap, I'm still ahead on the deal...), so this is my opportunity.

This comes with literally everything related to the auto:
01M FDB transmission
shifter
shift cables
shifter trim/handle
bolts
"flywheel" plate
TCM
175 relay
(no wiring harness, though)

Like I said, this all worked fine a week ago but there appears to have been a mechanical failure inside the gearbox. Do whatever with it - rebuild (would fetch an easy $2k ($3k from a shop, $4k for a rebuilt from VW)) and part out the rest; cannibalize parts, use as a core ($1k through VW) to have a backup ready when yours fails; whatever...

Functioning, used 01M's with over 100k on them are $1300-$1500 at the junkyard; rebuild kits for these are a few hundred; do the math there...

Sold together - I'm not interested in separating anything, so please don't ask. If you want just one part, buy the whole thing and you deal with parting it out.

If you have a complete, undamaged (and I mean perfect) OEM grey shift boot for a manual and an OEM 6-speed manual shift knob , I'd trade you straight across.

Also, I'm in Seattle - shipping would be ridiculous both in term of cost and hassle... I do have a truck and delivery/meeting within 50 miles or so of Seattle could be negotiated based upon the price of fuel; further for an additional "hassle" fee...

LOL. Yeah, that's why there's a 02M from a European TDI in the car now... Can you say 2200rpm in 6th at 75mph? 8)
