1.6NA crank and rods for TD build
« on: March 02, 2013, 07:40:59 pm »
Is there any disadvantage of running early 80's 1.6NA rods and a crank in my '91 1.6TD hydraulic block? Are rods are the same part number? I only need one pulley on the crank so the ole nose piece would work fine in my mind.

ETKA lists them as the same part number for early 80's CR diesels and the 91 ME/MF diesels.

Thanks, good to know. I'll have to do some wrenching this week, might even call the machine shop!

Even they are with same number, earlier NA rods are beefier than later TD rods.

I think the rod bolts on the earlier 1.6N/A rods are reuseable and the later rod bolts are one time use stretch bolts? Correct me???
