If I were you and the transmission was out of the vehicle I would seperate the automatic and diffrential halves of the tranny and replace the crappy gasket that seperates the gear oil from the tranny fluid if you plan on keeping the automatic on there for awhile.

Brokevw also does whatever performance upgrades you want. The hard parts are all cryo frozen too.

I dig the ABS, I went that route too.. but it won't handle more than 9-10psi. Just so you know.. lol
I abandoned that immediately as it would just pop out of the hoses. This is hopefully one of the loose ends you are fixing? As well as that gasser throttle cable?

Lol, that happened to me twice already. It will be changed - just waiting to take the intercooler off the tdi.
The throttle cable is what came on the car - and that is why I had to take the bracket off the na ip, as the td ip throttle bracket wouldn't work.
It seems to work okay - I get full throttle when the gas pedal is floored. Although i find having a 010 trans, even with the 1.6td the car is a bit slowish...
Loose ends are: intercooler, temp gauge, glow plugs ( will have to solenoid them) try to turn up the fuel screw, change atf and finally paint flames on hood.........

Here is Super Car 2 all set for the winter. New heater core, blower fan switch & some 14inch Firestone winters. Hopefully, 5 speed will be going in over Xmas.
FYI the front grill is missing as the students at school are fabbing up a plexiglass cover to fit over the grill and hopefully improve the warm up times on the short drive to work.

If you got buddies doing that, I'd halt them and get them to make a piece that fits in front of the rad from headlights to headlights.
Mind the extreme mess and the fact that it is carboard.. only pic I have of mockup. As you can see it goes infront of the rad from top to bottom and covers from low beam to low beam. This literally blocks ALL the air passing through not only the rad, but over and around the block and head. The short drive you do, the thermostat is not even close to opening. The issue then is not air passing through the rad, what it is is air hitting the giant heatsink of an aluminum head we have.. You need to stop that airflow, this is how you do it.

What did you make the cover out of? Sheetmetal, plastic?
And did you notice a big difference?
finally, why is the windshield washer jug on the pass side? I thought OEM is on the driver's side?

I eventually used thin Plexiglas. Huge improvements! I did a control test, I have my rad fan on a manual switch.. So with the car sitting idling at an operating temperature below the thermostats temp (verified by a cold lower rad hose), I turned the rad fan on with no wind shield up front and I watched the temps (manual temp gauge) literally plummeting off. This would be similar to cruising in town with low load and low rpm.. Shield in place and it can maintain a steady coolant temp whilst cruising around.
The only thing to worry about with that is the whole front is covered off, so very minimal air flow across the rad if you end up needing it. Say flooring it up a hill, being in PEI I think you'll be alright

Washer jug is over there because this was originally a 1.7 EN gasoline engine car. The fuel distributor and airbox were over in the stock diesel jug location.

160, and riggt now no shield with the temps near freezing the car doesnt make more than 160 unless im hauling ass yp an extended hill.

Well with the 180 before I was running like 205F cylinder head temps on a regular.. and it jumped fast when I got on to it.
I was thinking of switching up to a 195 for this upcoming winter season.
