Hello i search info for the best exhaust manifold for my tdi afn. By few days i want to put gtb1756vk turbo. So for 220HP is it worth to change ori manifold from b5 AWX to other better manifold. I saw that people put in this from old diesel ( with few changes ) or from 1.6td. Is it worth to put one of those?
Or waht about manifoldfrom vw sharan tdi

I've thought about a Sharon manifold but with the location of the turbo changing you would need new oil lines, turbo inlet piping and downpipe.

interesting flowing on that, looks better than standard.
I just have a normal manifold with the 4 bolt fitting at 45degrees to the head, i'm sure it'll be good enough for both our needs, plus would you be able to fit that manifold in d'you think?

this is what i did for a high-flow manifold..
turbo header!!
StreetToys 2000 builds them.. this is one of his old "space saver" manifolds, they are not produced like this any longer.
they are expensive, but they are awesome as well..

Good point my b5 manifold barely fits in my my corrado

I'm eagerly watching this thread. Trying to decide what I want to do for a manifold too. I've seen a few generic 8v T3 manifolds but it is hard to know what will fit!

the generic ones are pretty useless...

Useless how? Useless as in they don't physically fit? Useless as in they have poor flow characteristics?
The stock AHU manifold doesn't look particularly good:
...whereas a generic 8V T25 manifold looks like it'd flow a lot nicer:
...though I kind of suspect the turbo would be getting quite intimate with the firewall...

That generic T3 manifold has large open plenum which causes slow spooling. Stock AFN manifold is pretty good one.

it also has a big restriction in the runners for #1 & #2 cyl..
HUGE hump blocking a good 20-30% of the runners.. ill take a pic some day..
yes, they have a large internal volume, making spool times slower..

They are both about $250. I'm probably going to go with the top one myself...

bottom one is set up for an external wastegate, so if you run the top one, make sure you have an integral wastegate..

Actually both have an external wastegate flange. The PDF files show the full dimensional drawings and things.
The turbo I'm planning on does have an internal wastegate either way though. The one problem I need to figure out is it has studs on two of the manifold flange bolts which may be a challenge with either of these manifolds.
