Do I need this part

I believe it's some kind of a vacuum canister and it sits on top of my aaz injection pump. It has a little cable going to the side of the pump that I'm sure does something. As this is my Giles modified pump that I'm using on my b5 gas to diesel swap can I just remove it.  The pump on my other aaz doesn't have one so I'm thinking it's not needed.

It's for a vacuum controlled high idle. It's usually found on cars with A/C. You don't need it, but it could be useful.
