Truckie II rolls again..
« on: December 13, 2012, 05:39:32 pm »

After an, ahem, extended brake and suspension rebuild.  Like five months extended,
in a parking spot on the side of an ally, we hit the road again a bit yesterday.
Stopped for an alignment after my quick toe-plate/digital camber level to get it kinda close.
We have re-greased and booted axles, and pretty much new everything else front and rear.
Mr. CaddyShack provided me with some neat brackets to space out the rear KYB's a bit
so it even actually rides nice, and there isn't a clunk in the steering or suspension to be found.
I'm actually suspicious, as there is almost always a clunk of some sort on a 400K mile A1 VW.
But hey.
Needs a less ratty exhaust and motor mounts soon, but it's getting there.
The AC still works and the NA-AAZ still has a nice fat midrange.
I'm still a bit burned out on VW's, but it's good to have her on the road again.

that sun roof leak?

Surprisingly, no.  Least not in any sane amount of rain.
I wouldn't have had the balls to cut the roof(blame Father), but it's a decent piece.

It does however rattle at idle when open with so-so motor mounts.
Pretty nice otherwise, especially with a solid back glass.
Needs a sun shade inside, cooked my head going through the western US
last June.
