Lift pump noise and added power?
« on: December 10, 2012, 05:05:15 pm »
Installed myself a lift pump today are they normally a bit noisy when running? Mine seems to be noticebly noisy when idling after driving a bit it seems to quite down after the few stop and go's. I also feel like I got a tad bit more overall power esp the harder I push my foot down. Right now with a a moderate governor mod and an otherwise stock eco with td pump 3.67 rp and a. 71 fifth my top speed in fifth is about 93 with my foot to the floor. It might be able to go higher but I had to start slowing down it still felt like my engine was about done going any faster.

That is about 3500 RPM. So me thinks the boost must be going away at this point? Do you have a gauge?

It may be the stock waste gate, or the intake manifold pressure valve opening.

Noise might vary by type of lift pump?
the clickers types are noisier when not working against pressure;
clackclackclack till the all air is purged, then thud...thud...thud=holding at line pressure, but the out bolt has leakby designed in to it.

That is odd. I have never dealt with an ECO. Why did they not have it?

Still got a waste gate dont they? ;)

I got a carrier constant duty diesel pump that I had on old f250 and it does the clackity dance as well, was told by a bunch of people that referred me to them that it was normal.  Of course make sure its secured well and I ran mine through a relay.
